Can one component require both CNC milling and turning?
Yes. A component may combine milled surfaces, pockets and mounting features with cylindrical geometry.
Share the complete drawing or model so the manufacturing sequence and relationships between features can be reviewed together.
Is 3-axis milling sufficient for my part?
Often, yes. Many components with multiple machined faces can be produced using suitable setups and workholding arrangements.
Multi-face geometry does not automatically require simultaneous 5-axis machining.
Tool access, feature relationships, setup requirements and inspection needs help determine whether 3-axis, indexed or 5-axis machining is appropriate.
What should I specify for internal corners and edges?
Define mating-part clearances, acceptable internal radii and functional edge requirements.
Internal corners produced by rotating milling cutters generally retain a radius. If a sharp internal corner is essential, identify it for review of an alternative design or secondary operation.
Include deburring and edge-break requirements where they affect assembly, handling or performance.
Can prototype and repeat-production requirements be reviewed together?
Yes. Share the initial quantity, expected repeat demand and any anticipated design or material changes.
This helps establish the manufacturing and inspection requirements for the prototype while identifying considerations for subsequent orders.
